Let's Talk About Perfume

 

Hi, my name is Treana and I am perfume hoarder. Like woah. The crazy part is that I love so many different perfumes that I haven't pulled the trigger on purchasing a whole bottle in over a year. I've been subsisting on samples from Sephora and roller balls (around $20 each). But I want to do that annoying bridey thing where you have a perfume that is special that you wear on your wedding day. Plus, it is just time to buy some of the yummy stuff!

These are definitely ranked in the order of my favorites right now. (Price be damned. Sometimes you just gotta splurge.)

1. The Replica line by Maison Martin Margiela.

Favorite? Beach Walk. It's subtle and feminine. You can tell you're wearing something, but not too overpowering. It currently has my top spot of most lusted after perfumes. The Sephora folks gave me a sample ... I basically bathed in it.

The unique pumps are wrapped with a rope to symbolize the authentic reproduction of the original 'REPLICA' couture line.

My other favorite perfume from their line is Jazz Club. A little more of a night-time scent. Grownup, but still sweet. And no, it doesn't smell like a smoky jazz club. That's just gross. The M cubed folks say that Jazz Club has:

Notes: Pink Pepper, Primofiore Lemon, Neroli Oil, Rum Absolute, Clary Sage Oil, Java Vetiver Oil, Tobacco Leaf Absolute, Vanilla Bean, Styrax Resin. Style: Spicy. Confident. Smooth.

Oh word? Spicy, confident, and smooth. I'll take it.

2. Balenciaga Paris Line

In second place, and recently bumped off of the top spot is Balenciaga Paris: Regular in first place and Florabotanica as the second choice for this brand.

My friends in Paris describe it as so:

Balenciaga Paris is a lovely paradox, a fragrance full of light yet balanced with dark subtlety.

As the scent opens, an airy bouquet of violets is set against the antique charm of dried petals found between the pages of a book. Traces of past memories turn to the present as a peppery note swells over a calm trace of mossy wood. A scent that breathes in the secret hours of night, it is mysterious and fragile—yet leaves a lasting trail.

Its unique bottle winks at Balenciaga style. Fashioned of blown glass and left without engraving or adornments, its angles and curves culminate with an ivory cap that appears like a surprise rising from a velvet cape.

Am I the only one that thinks that saying the ivory cap appears like a surprise rising from a velvet cape is perverted? I have no idea what that even means, but I do know that I have loved this fragrance for a year and never pulled the trigger because Dave Ramsey.

3. Tory Burch

If you have ever spent more than 3 days with me you know that I love Tory Burch shoes and bags. I can't afford them, but I get them off of eBay and stalk Nordstrom Rack for steals. One of my nice friends bought me a Tory Burch bag for graduation, and my life hasn't been the same since. :) Well, you can add perfume to my list of Tory loves, because girl nailed it on this one.

The description is also spot on (as Mel B would say):

4. Dior Addict

I was wearing this perfume when LB and I met. It takes me back to that time, but I sort of feel like I have grown past it. I still smell it and get good vibes though. Plus, the bottle is adorable.

The Dior team says that Addict:

Notes: Silk Tree Flower, Mandarin Leaf, Orange Blossom, Queen of the Night Flower, Bulgarian Rose, Bourbon Vanilla Absolute, Mysore Sandalwood, Tonka Bean. Style: Independent. Vivacious. Alluring.

Ahhhhh! So that explains it. I was putting off an independent, vivacious, and alluring vibe. Ladies. Take note.

5. Bvlagaria au the Blanc

I was wearing this perfume in HIGH SCHOOL and continued to wear it through most of college. I LOVE IT still to this day, but there are just so many memories that it brings up, that I am passing what used to be my signature scent along to you fine folks. Enjoy her and wear her proud!
