My gratitude for today is very simple: music. All kinds of music. My favorite band of all time is clearly Mumford and Sons because of the lyrics, the jam out-able nature of the music, and the incredible memories that it holds for me. But, generally, I love music. I love sharing music. And I love finding new music. In college, music hunting was my most treasured hobby, and it is where I developed my skill of being able to study to music with lyrics. Seriously, I can read a super complicated corporate law case about a merger and still be able to have music on that has words.
This morning as I took my first shower in three days (more on that later), I blasted Dixie Chicks... and I mean BLASTED. I started the album from the beginning and let the water wash over me in the same way I let the lyrics take me back. Back to riding around in ol blue (my 87 Subaru station wagon) with Veronica, Kristen, and Kari. Just BLASTING Dixie Chicks and screaming, "Earl had to die.... na na na na na" for no reason what so ever. We'd then hop out of the car and wander around Albertsons for a few hours just talking and browsing and being annoying teenage girls. Back in the car for another adventure and we'd be on our way. That's what all music does. Takes you back... makes you remember things you didnt realize you forgot. I love music. And yes, that includes the Dixie Chicks.
