DIY Dressing Bar

Progress is gorgeous... almost as gorgeous as my very sleepy fiance installing my "dressing bar." I saw the idea on pinterest of having a dressing bar in your room where you would lay out your week's worth of outfits on the weekend, thereby taking the guess work out of every morning. About a month ago I headed to home depot and bought legit plumbing pipe. It took one straight pipe, two connectors, two curved pieces and two plates. The total cost was about $30 (pipe is not cheap peeps). Then we got the level out along with the drill and went to town. 20140128-223414.jpg

And TADA! You can see my dressing bar AND the curtains we got from Target hung in my office... only one box left to deal with in there and then the organization can REALLY commence!

I am struggling trying to figure out what color to repaint my desk and the shelf I picked up from the thrift store this weekend. I am thinking, currently, the desk goes off white with chalk paint and distressing so that some of the old blue peeks through. For the shelf I am thinking black chalk paint with a distressed look. Trying to keep it cohesive without going to matchy matchy. Other option for the shelf I have thought about is a bright color-- like a yellow to break it up. I am definitely going to Mod Podge scrapbook paper to the back of the shelving unit to prettify it, but beyond that, I am having a serious color crisis.

I also acknowledge that it could be that the curtains in my office will need to find a new home. The only problem is that I love them.
