November 2014 Book Ratings!

I have been on a reading tear lately. I get like this every so often. Sick of TV (except Gilmore Girls... all day, errry day) and plowing through books. My blow money over the last month has gone to Amazon for books.  I posted back at the end of August about all the books I wanted to read. The list consisted of Big Little Lies, The Vacationers, The Husband's Secret, Me before You, Bittersweet, I am having so much fun here without you, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, A Hundred Summers, and We were Liars. Let's dive in shall we? *Pssssst: You can catch up on all of our reading adventures here

Read It!

big little lies

Big Little Lies: It takes place in Sydney (fun) and so far follows a group of wack-a-doo school moms who all love/hate each other. The mass of characters can seem like a lot at first, but dang, did I not see the twist coming. At the beginning of the book you have no idea who is killed and why. By the end you are thinking DAAAAAAAAAAAANG. How did I miss that!? It's real good.

Big Little Lies Rating: 8.5 out of 10

vacationers

The Vacationers: Kind of a blah book about a family that goes on vacation to the coast of Spain in the midst of marital trouble and a couple trying to adopt a baby. Frankly, it didn't stick with me at all, but some people loved it.

The Vacationers Rating: 5.5 out of 10

husband

The Husband's Secret: WHAT A PAGE TURNER!!!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVED this book. Another one that takes place in Australia between Sydney and Melbourne. Murder intrigue, families all trying to work their shiz out. It was one of my favorites I have read this year.

The Husband's Secret Rating: 9 out of 10

guernsey

The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society: Another surprising favorite of this list. It takes place in the aftermath of WWII and it was hauntingly sweet and sad. Moments of humor, mixed with total love for everyone in the book... but not the Nazi's. No love for those guys. I put off reading this book because of the title, but I am pissed I did. It was GREAT!

The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Society: 9 out of 10

we were liars

We Were Liars: I love all things Cape Cod/Nantucket-y in my life and this book hit on that. It also had a great twist towards the end that I won’t spoil here. What starts out as a great story about a wealthy family who also has issues just like the rest of us (shocker) becomes something else entirely.  A quick, fun read and one I would recommend. Also going to incorporate new ratings into my book recommendations.

We Were Liars Rating: 7 out of 10

Where I stand on my Book Wish List:

I just bought Me Before You and Bittersweet. I am sure given the current pace of my reading, I will finish one of them by the time this posts. It's a little out of control right now, but when you have an old school Kindle that allows you to just read and read and read, books get demolished.

PLEASE PLEASE share your newest book loves. I am DYING to add to my book list.

Read It... Read it Real Good

Since I have been stuck at home for a while and without the use of an arm... so weird... I have been able to get through massive quantities of TV and a few books too. Since sharing is caring, I wanted to update y'all on my reads! *Check out all of my book loving posts here!

big little lies

Just started reading Big Little Lies on the train before surgery and am dying to keep going. It takes place in Sydney (fun) and so far follows a group of wack-a-doo school moms who all love/hate each other. The mass of characters can seem like a lot at first, but dang, I am liking this one so far.

Big Little Lies Rating (so far): 8.5 out of 10
